Happy New Year

Hi there

It's a celebratons challenge over at Whoopsi Daisy this week so I thought I would base my DT inspiration on New Year. This uses a lovely paddington day out serif digikit for the background and the line drawing of london in the "polariod". The digistamp is from Whoopsi Daisy (sheet 414)

All the best for 2014!

Merry & Bright

Yay!! I am now part of the Crafting Cafe Design Team and am really looking forward to working with the other designers and sharing my ideas with you!

This is my DT project for the Crafting Cafe December Challenge using one of the challenge sketches. I generally design on 5 x 5 or 6 x 6 card so this was a nice change for me and I thought the image from Saturated Canary worked perfectly with it.

There’s still a few days left for you to join the challenge - we’d love to see your designs!

Untraditional

Hi there

I made this as a seasonal card for someone who has recently been through chemo. I love the image, a Little Darlings Rubber Stamp coloured using promarkers, and the sentiment which I put together using MS Word. The "ribbon" is my DIY embellishment made from a scrap of patterned paper.

Not even a mouse

Hi there

Its a traditional colours christmas challenge over at whoopsi daisy this week and this is my DT inspiration card.

The image is so cute, I added a little digi mouse to it and in keeping with the candle and traditional theme, decided to add the first verse of "twas the night before christmas" on distressed paper with a little ink well image to finish it

Smile for the camera

Hi there

Woo hoo! I’m really pleased to have joined the crafty girls design team!

This is my DT inspiration card using a beautiful image from milk coffee. I’ve used serif to create the snapshot background and coloured the image with promarkers. The background papers are from my stash (think they might have been from craftwork cards)

Give Thanks

Hi there

The challenge this week at Whoopsi Daisy is "Give Thanks" so I decided to make a thank you card for my DT design. I think this image of a fairy writing a letter is so cute and I've coloured it with my promarkers to work with the distressed papers. Overall the design, papers and ribbon give a folk art style to the design which is not my usual style at all but I kinda like it! :)

Flower Power

Hi there

The theme over at Whoopsi Daisy is flowers this week and this digi is just perfect for it. The card is designed to be a mini present too as the sentiment has been mounted on a paper pouch which could hold a little bag of seeds :)

The pouch is very easy to make - just a strip of patterned paper folded in half and a further flap folded down two sides. Use the flaps to glue the front and back together and cut away the excess. I've used a small circle punch to cut the semi circle at the top of the pouch.

Vintage

Hi there

Its a monochromatic challenge over at Whoopsi Daisy this week and as I love sepia toned cards that's the colour theme I have used. The image is quite vintage too which helps!

The card has been finished with designer papers, spellbinders gate die and hand made paper roses.

The roses are colour matched using antique linen and vintage photo distress inks

Furry Friends

I love this image from LOTV - its just so cute!

I was experimenting with the design and decided to go with the ripped layers in the end and really like how it turned out. The image has been stamped and stuck under the patterned paper and the paper has then been ripped and curled.

Note to self, next time remember to move my finger from underneath when creating the first tear with the scalpel to avoid cutting my finger and nearly bleeding all over the project ! (oops!)

Shabby Chic

It's shabby chic over at whoopsi daisy and this is my creation for the theme.

The image is so lovely, there isn't too much it needs. The background paper has been lighly edged using distressed ink, the pearls strung on a cord and the butterfly is a die cut which has also been coloured with distress ink.

Autumn Bookmark

It's anything but a card over at Whoopsi Daisy this week and this is my GDT creation.

It's very easy to make, and for anyone who likes the feel of physical books, its useful too!

The base is the corner of an envelope.

The image has then been coloured using autumn colours, lightly glittered on the wings and cut out. The envelope corner is decorated with designer paper (distressed using ranger antique linen) and the phrase has been added to a piece of card and stuck inside the envelope corner

October gave a party

Hi there

This card was inspired by the George Cooper poem that I've used on it. It seemed perfect for Autumn and the image from Whoopsi Daisy matched it so well. It also gave me the chance to use the skeleton leaves I've had since circa 2005 and never used!

The text reads:

October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came -
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.

Texture

This image from Whoopsi Daisy is so cute. It's from sheet 434 and could be used for Birthdays, Christmas or any other occasions simply by changing the colour and background paper.

I decided on a really simple pink and white theme as was focusing on texture and decided to use various embossing folders and distress ink to create the layers and shades. Its then been finished with ribbon and pearls and a sentiment saying "Just for You"

Flutterby

I've been wanting to try out a pop up card for a while and here is my first attempt.

I think pink and green make a lovely bright colour combination. The image is from Tiddly Inks and is so cute.

The pop up mechanism is very basic, just a couple of little cuts in the spine of the card which are then pushed out the inversely to the spine

Every Girl Needs a Red Dress

I love black red and white as a combinaton. I had a few left over backround papers in shades of black, grey and white which I thought worked well together to make a contrast background to this lovely impage from Saturated Canary.

I'm practicing different coloured hair at the moment and think so far brunnett hair is winning!

I tend to stick to the same colours in my cards and yellow is a colour I hardly ever use. Thought I would try something different and this is the result.
